quick catch up in 2018

papercut ketubah by Woodland Papercuts. Design: Moon & Flowers
I survived my first 12 hours migraine - YAY! Just wanted to put it out there. I probably deserved it for spending about 2 straight weeks in pyjamas. Good news - I have on real clothes now! So something good came out of it.

I am disappointed with myself that I lost the momentum on social media after I spent weeks in December writing one blog post after another and keeping up with the Johnsons on instagram. I have 2 more scheduled posts on my work blog and then I am all out so I better start drafting new content. It shouldn't be too difficult since I am working on beautiful new designs for clients. I also have about 30 drafts on this blog as well, which has more to do with my unnecessary collection of coats (I do live in the Middle East after all) and my never-ending search for cute shoes (internet shopping has failed me!). But at least I popped over here to throw a line at you about the near-death pain I experienced last weekend, right? Just thinking about it gives me an echo headache, I swear.

Back to papercutting. I can be found on instagram most days if you're wondering, though I can't say I do it well. I'd still love to see you there! Anyone else concentrating on one online domain at a time? Which is your guilty pleasure?

Tired

There are days my work and body are fighting each other. I have a hard time getting out of bed and staying awake, no matter how many hours of sleep I get. Daily gym visits, pills and supplements, and the spring sun aren't making an impact so far, and my unwavering fatigue is still reigning strong. Nothing helps, and fighting sleep becomes harder throughout the day.

I hate how this has influenced my work. Last year I had 18+ work days, I didn't go to sleep until every email was answered. These days I'm lucky if I can stay awake for 12 hours work and complete my daily design tasks, let alone answer all the emails. Now people can wait for 2-3 days for a reply, and I hate that!

Even now, it's 3 in the afternoon and I am knackered. Seriously yawning non-stop, eyes hurt, feeling lethargic, and I have 8 emails and 3 papercuts to go before I can sleep. What gives??

What do you do to wake yourself up? Any healthy life tips?

A few truths

This week has been a whirlwind. My mother came for a week-long visit to help me look for an apartment. We searched high and low and looked at some awful places. She's really been a god send, without her I would have taken a derelict but romantic apartment because I overlook practical things like broken floors and moldy walls for the great potential of parisian high ceilings, spacious rooms, and big bay windows. It's sad owners are willing to rent apartments in such awful condition to unsuspecting young people. And for shockingly high prices, too!

I sorely need to exercise. On Saturday DD gave me a lift back to Tel Aviv and cut my trip by 2 hours. After I left the car I discovered I forgot my folder with all the papercuts in his back seat. I quickly sprinted across the street to catch him, and there's the rub: The first 2 seconds I was running I realized I hadn't run for years, and I thought 'wow, this is great! Look how fast I'm going!' That quickly turned into 'Oh God, I can't feel my knees! Am I getting lower? Am I going to stumble and fall now? I should stop running.' Not a fun realization to make mid-sprint, my friends. My legs felt like jelly after a 15 seconds run - that's in how bad of shape I am.

The point was driven home to me when a friend stopped by to collect a tiny canvas I had made for her. I opened the door and she exclaimed 'Oh my God, you look awful! What happened?!' I hope I only looked bad enough to warrant that response because I was awake for more than 36 hours at that point, but man, talk about a blunt remark. I do need to work on my body, I'm not 20 anymore. I'm freaking 26, my body has stopped forgiving me for all the shit I put it through. Damn it.

Oh, well. Off to work!
